Masao Robe
I bought a roll of navy, bamboo cotton fleece and thought I'd make the Capsule II hoodies out of it. I ended up choosing a heavier, herringbone terry so the fleece sat under the cutting table for months. Once I got into a "Spring Cleaning" frame of mind, I pulled up all of my fabric and came across the roll again.
I didn't want to buy more fabric, so the focus was to make something that was the same material throughout. My mind wandered back to what inspired an element of the Rover Coat. Making a fleece housecoat seemed straightforward but I wanted to give it a little Japanese twist.
Mom coincidentally, had just gotten back from Japan. She brought back a bunch of my grandparents' kimonos that I was able to reference when making the pattern. Masao is my grandpa's name...
